Reboot11 Call For Action: We need hardware! And Stuff

We are working on creating a RoomWare Installation at Reboot11.
We need your help.

We need the following hardware
1) Desktop computers and (flat) screens: Used / discarded but working
2) TikiTag readers or Arduino RFID readers
3) RFID chip cards, like the ones used in Public Transportation
4) UTP cables and Routers (just in case)


Help us make it work
With what we have now we can make only a very bare installation.
Naturally we want more. We want to make it beautiful and useful for you as a user.

RoomWare?
Roomware is about making buildings and places into concious and living entities with which you can interact.

Reboot11 and RoomWare
What we want to do is to create several "booths" in the venue that link the schedule of Reboot 11 directly to places and people.

Use case: personalized programme
When you browsed the site of Reboot 11, you might have tagged some of the proposals by clicking "I like this". By doing that you linked that event to your personal account and already started creating a personalized programme.

Using RoomWare: we want to make that info directly available to you anywhere, anytime within the Reboot Venue.

How it works:
When you walk through the venue, you will find one or more information booths, consisting of a computer and a screen.
By placing an RFID card on an RFID-reader you can identify yourself to the system and get direct feed back based on your personal preferences.
The data (the proposals you selected, the things you want to see) will be directly presented to you on screen, using the following grouping.

By Proximity
1) What is going to happen now/soon/later in this area?
2) Which of the items I tagged as "I like this" are happening here?

By Time and proximity
1) When is going to happen what (now, soon, later)?
2) Where will it happen?
3) Is that close by?

Why we need you
Only last Sunday we got a green light to do a RoomWare installation.
Instead of saying: "Sorry, no, next year," we left it open and decided to make a jump for it.

Currently we are working very hard on getting the right people and the right hardware together and it seems that we will be able to make it.

BUT: we did not have time to prepare and gather the hardware.
What we have
3 workstations to serve as information booths
100 RFID-cards to identify users and present personalized
600+ people attending Reboot11

What we aim for
At least 10 extra (used) desktops, including screens.
To go to at least 30 stations for people to access the data regarding what is happening when and where.
As many TikiTags / Arduino RFID readers as we can get
As many RFID cards as we can find. Public Transportation Chip cards work perfectly
One long UTP cable (25 meters) + Router for each desktop
